Butler born in Scotland, Renfrewshire, paisley this was theyoungest son of three children of Edward butler and Margaret, a bookmaker.
He bought up into the strict Roman Catholic way. Butler spenthis first five years of his life in Montreal, Quebec, before the familyreturned to live in Scotland.
Mid life-
Butler spent his few days in London in many of odd jobsuntil being cast as actor and steven berkoff in a stage production of Coriolanus.
Butler is addicted to alcohol. Butler met his father in age of 16teen, their parents were diverse and mother raised the kids. He dint had cont with the father till then. But father passed away when he was 20ty. Butler attended Glasgow university, where he tried to study t LLB (lawyer).
His acting life started when he met an actor steven berkoff in coffee shop, later he appeared alongside with Buttler in a TV, there butler gave up studies for acting. After this he was chooses to play for some interesting role. Later he debuted in movie in the year 1997.the movie was shot in Scotland (his birth place). At this place he was enjoying his shooting for movie and enjoying the home town his is friends and family. There he helped a boy who drowning in lake. For the bravery he showed, he got the certificate for his bravery from the royal humane society.
He worked in many film in some small and few big roles.
He got popular by Dracula series of movies and built a good fan base. Later he broke all the barrier in the year 2007 as Spartan King Leonidas in the Warner Bros. production 300 (2006), based on the Frank Miller graphic novel, and Shattered (2007) co-starring Pierce Brosnan and Maria Bello, which aired on network TV under the title Shattered. He most recently starred in P.S. I Love You (2007) with Academy Award-winner Hilary Swank .
Few more things--- the lead singer for a Scottish rock band named Speed, although music eventually became his second love after acting.
He has quickly gained a reputation as one of the nicest actors around, as he always takes time to socialize with fans and hangs out with crew members as much as co-stars on film sets.
When he auditioned for the role of "Aslan the Lion" in the Walden Media/Disney production of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005), he asked, "This isn't going to be like the BBC puppet Aslan, right? Because, if so, I'm leaving right now".
On solitude: I love to spend a lot of time on my own. I can seriously go into my own head and often love to let myself travel where I don't know where I'm going. I always felt that that was his kind of form of escape, in a way.
On acting: Just make them feel something, because I think so many of us, including myself, spend too much time not feeling enough, you know?
