Prateik is an Indian actor. He is the son of late actress Smita Patil and actor turned politician Raj Babbar.
Earlier Prateik assisted advertisement filmmaker Prahlad Kakkar for a year as a production assistant. During this time Prateik was cast in advertisement films for several companies, including KitKat.
Rising star Prateik is taking himself seriously as an actor.
Prateik made his acting debut in the Aamir Khan production, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, alongside Imran Khan and Genelia D'Souza. His portrayal of Genelia's brother, Amit, won him plaudits from critics and earned him several awards and nominations.
Aamir Khan decided to cast him again in the first debut movie that was being directed by his wife Kiran Rao and that was when Prateik was casted for the role of Munna in Dhobi Ghat.
he was seen once again in another superb performance oriented movie called Aarakshan where Prateik showed that he could act and share screen space with Bollywood legends like Amitabh Bachchan and Manoj Bajpai. My Friend Pinto is the latest movie that starred Prateik but unfortunately the movie was not positively received by the audiences and therefore it could not do much business.
The film went on to become a major commercial success. He next appeared in Kiran Rao's critically acclaimed Dhobi Ghaat, which opened to positive reviews at film festivals worldwide. He featured in the action-thriller Dum Maro Dum alongside Abhishek Bachchan and Rana Daggubati.
"I didn't think about acting."
To be honest with you, when I signed on Jaane Tu … Ya Jaane Na, I treated it like a vacation. I thought to myself — there will be a fancy hotel room, a pool while I shoot. [That] is how I entered films. But now I have started taking acting seriously. Not that I didn't enjoy it, I wasn't sure if I really wanted it badly enough. And the more you face the camera, the more you get used to it. I love the fact that you get to be different people every day and you get to tell their stories.

Sana and Suraj Panscholi, the son and daughter of Aditya Panscholi and Sidhant Kapoor, the son of Shakti Kapoor had to spend a night in police custody. Shivendra Pawar, the son of former Income Tax officer and Azhar Supariwala, the grandson of Haji Mastan too were among the arrested.
There also were strong rumours that a son of a star-politician also had been detained. The name turned out Prateik Babbar, who recently made his debut in Jane Tu…Ya Jaane Na. Prateik Babbar is the son of late Smita Patil and Raj Babbar. Raj Babbar has joined Congress party a day earlier. There are rumours that he too was picked up and his father used his clout to get him freed. The official version, though, is that he had left the party 20 minutes before the cops raided the hotel.
Prateik and his friends are regulars at this hotel.
Bollywood sources reveal that several actresses too do drugs and in fact, depend on some of the notorious star names for their supply. In fact, the daughter of star MP parents recently was sent abroad for detoxification and cure.
